Lora grew up on a family farm, where her dedication to family and hard work was shaped. She was a tremendous athlete in high school, excelling volleyball, basketball, and softball. She was recognized as the Outstanding Female Senior Athlete at her high school. After graduating, Lora attended Oakland University, where she earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Public Administration and Public Policy.
Lora is dedicated and passionate about everything she does. She has made various contributions to the community, serving on several boards, including the Football Boosters, the School Board for Christ Lutheran School, and as Director of Vacation Bible School.
Lora began her public service journey in 2012 at the County Treasurer’s office, where she perfected her skills as a Homestead Audit Specialist & Homestead Person Property Coordinator. Her dedication led her to the position of Judicial Administrative Assistant for Judge Howard in 2015, where she gained invaluable experience. Three years later, following in the footsteps of a respected predecessor, Lora stepped into the prestigious role of Register of Deeds in October 2018. Despite the significant responsibilities and the large shoes to fill, she embraced the challenge and has since excelled, demonstrating unwavering commitment and remarkable leadership.
Lora’s dedication extends beyond her official duties. She joined MARD in 2018 and made valuable contributions as a member of the Registration Committee for several years. Her leadership abilities were recognized when she was elected Secretary for MARD in January 2022. She continues to serve on the Legislative Committee, chairs the County Plat Board, and has also held the role of Vice Chair for the local Republican Party. Her involvement doesn’t stop there; she is also an active member of PRIA and UCOA, contributing her expertise and leadership to these organizations.
But there’s more to Lora’s story. She is a devoted wife and mother who finds joy in the simple pleasures of life – walking her dogs, immersing herself in a good book, playing ice hockey, and passionately cheering on the Detroit Lions during football season. As her family would attest, her ability to balance a demanding career with her family life is truly inspiring.
Congratulations Lora on your recognition as the 2024 Michigan Association of Registers of Deeds, Inc. Register of the Year.
