    Register of the Year 2023 - Ann Manning-Clayton

    Ann is a native of Gladwin County, graduating from Gladwin High School and then attending Michigan State University with a Bachelor of Science degree in Management. She and her husband John have six adult children. She also has her adorable golden retriever dog Indi and her new kitty Charli.

    Ann began her career at the Register of Deeds office in 2009 when she was appointed as Chief Deputy and later appointed as Register of Deeds in 2010, and now serving in her 13th year as Register of Deeds.

    As a member of MARD, Ann has served as Secretary from 2016-2019 and then on to Third Vice in 2020 moving on up to where she currently is as this years MARD President. She has served on the Legislation, Standardization and Review, Vendor, Registration, Audit, Nomination, Program, Budget and Conference Committees. She is also Certified County Officer and member of UCOA and a member of PRIA.

    Some of Ann’s other passions involve the education and coaching of today’s youth. She is the Gladwin Girl’s Jr. High School track coach and was recently hired as the new JV Girls basketball coach for Gladwin. She also volunteers with the K-8th grade middle school cross country program in the fall. If time allows, she may also be seen substitute teaching at the various grade levels at the Gladwin Schools.

    Ann’s hobbies include, running, golfing, boating and spending time with her family and friends. She has enjoyed her MARD family immensely and says it has been a huge blessing, has changed the direction of her life, and has given her confidence and a purpose when she needed it most. She says there is really no other organization like MARD and she hopes to continue to be involved and help out whenever she can.
